What is a Snowbird?

It was recently brought to my attention by a Real Estate Blog site that a lot of Realtors don't understand what A Snowbird is.. Those who understand a Snowbirds needs will thrive in todays marketplace...

The definition of a Snowbird from Websters is Someone (Usually Retired) who travels South for the warmer winter climates and then returns North for the milder summers temperatures.... but here's the facts...

The legions of Winter Visitors and Snowbirds that for decades have boosted the economy are about to take on a new and in many cases a more permanent look.

They are expected to show up in larger numbers but with different needs and preferences. Some will be retired. Others are expected to delay retirement and buy vacation properties that generate rental income when the owners are not in town.

Especially with the outragous price of gas, more Winter Visitors & Snowbird are expected to buy condos or homes that they visit several times each year, instead of spending just the winter months renting an apartment or RV space.

There are about 76 million baby boomers, the nickname given to those born between 1946 and 1964. Previous generations are much smaller -- 52 million called the "Bob Hope generation," or those born between 1910 and 1927; and 47 million in what is called the "SED generation -- the Sinatra, Elvis and James Dean generation," or those born between 1928 and 1945.

What a great day to be a snowbird!!! My husband, son and I are here in Bullhead City, AZ. It's close to 90 degrees today and the sky is a gorgeous blue and the sun just keeps shinning upon us. I think the area is a little poor from what we've seen this first year, some good people and some I'd rather not be around, I hear the Parker strip area is great, any feedback?
